Sygic Updates Android App with Parkopedia Parking
Sygic Updates Android App with Parkopedia Parking - For a lot of Android users, Google Maps is their go-to app for navigation, but it’s far from the only option out there.
Google themselves recently purchased an
alternative service by bringing Waze into the fold, but Sygic is an
alternative that has been around for a long, long time now. Offering up
more detailed maps than the majority of turn-by-turn navigation apps.
Sygic has around 100 Million users, a
figure they announced earlier this year. Part of what has made Sygic so
popular is that it’s an offline maps application, with no need for a
data connection or anything of the sort. Now, the company is adding yet
another integration, making it easier for users to find a parking space.
As of today, Sygic users on Android will
be able to access Parkopedia from within the app as part of their
latest update. Parkopedia is a service that lists parking spaces nearby
and allows users reserve a space, it operates across 75 countries, in
6,300 cities offering up 38 Million spaces all over the globe.
This brings Sygic one step closer to
offering everything you could ever need in a navigation app. Finding a
parking spot can be a pain in the rear, but with the inclusion of
Parkopedia Sygic makes this a little bit easier. This latest integration
joins TripAdvisor, Booking.com, Yelp, and Viator that are already
available to Sygic users.
While offering up a simple parking
solution might seem like just another convenience, it could be gentler
on the environment as well. UCLA urban-planning professor Donald Shoup
found that finding a space to park on the UCLA campus could add up to as
much 950,000 miles of driving.
In another survey done by the Telegraph,
they discovered that as many as 106 days of an adult’s life could be
spent finding a parking spot. For those that have yet to give Sygic a
try, they can download the app for free from the Play Store, although
maps are not free indefinitely. Source: Technomeda
