Apple Maps Vans Reported To Be Gathering Information For iOS 10
Apple Maps Vans Reported To Be Gathering Information For iOS 10 - According to a report by publication site AppleInsider, images of
Apple’s vans for capturing real locations for Maps has been spotted in
New York City, while others have been seen on late-night runs through
Boston and its surrounding areas. This is said to be for an update for
Apple’s Maps for iOS 10.
After a few months of Apple being very quiet about the Maps data program last June, the company officially acknowledged the maps data program and provided a list of locations where the vans are expected to appear in the future.
With that said, AppleInsider posted up a tweet from Matt Karolian, which reveals an Apple van with sensors and cameras attached to it riding around the streets. The source believes that the program includes ground operations as well as environmental capture.
In addition to this, they think that this is linked to a mapping effort similar to Google’s Street View, which is rumored to be unveiled this summer. Lastly, the source notes that Apple will likely reveal iOS 10 with the new mapping feature sometime during June at WWDC. Source: iPhoneinformer
