iPhone 8 New Rumors and Updates – To Have OLED Display From Samsung?
iPhone 8 New Rumors and Updates – To Have OLED Display From Samsung? - It’s very early to make predictions about the iPhone 8, since we
haven’t found out all information about the iPhone 7, which will be
released next year. A few months ago, we’ve heard that Apple has filled a
patent for a flexible and/or curved OLED display which is rumored to
appear on the iPhone 8.
It seems that Apple is planning to switch to OLED displays, after the
enormous success they had on flagships such as LG G Flex, LG G4 and
Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE. The problem is that Apple won’t be able to
integrate this technology into the upcoming iPhone 7 and the fans will
need to wait another year.
Currently, the Apple Watch is using a flexible OLED panel
created by LG and Samsung because of the advantages it comes with:
brightness, accuracy and color saturation. Before hearing the rumors
about Apple’s intention to adopt a curved display design for its
upcoming iPhones, it has reached our ears another rumor that the iPhone
will have the TouchID fingerprint scanner and other controls integrated
into its screen. This would exclude the physical home button under the
screen, making the panel look sleeker and more spacious.
So, why not using a curved screen which would support the
aforementioned features? This would motivate many iPhone fans to ditch
their old devices and buy the new model, which is more innovative, but
they would need to pay more money on it.
In a recent report published at the end of November, an executive
from Samsung Display said that “Samsung Display has recently renewed
talks with Apple to supply its small-sized OLED displays for the next
iPhones to be released in a few years, which I believe is around 2018”.
This move will surely be very beneficial to Samsung, because selling its
panels to its biggest rival will increase its revenue and with this
money will be able to make other investments in its technology.
But, don’t be too excited about this news, if you’re a Samsung fan.
Apparently, according to another report published on December 8, Apple
is in talks with Japan Display Inc (JDI), which would produce the curved
display. Source: Neurogadget
