Verizon Rolls Out March Security Updates For LG G4 And LG G3
Verizon Rolls Out March Security Updates For LG G4 And LG G3 -
Verizon has rolled out the March Android security updates for the LG G4 and the LG G3, which will optimize device performance.
The LG G4 and
the LG G3 on Verizon have already received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow
software update, which means that customers should not expect new
features from the latest security patch.
"Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for your LG G3," says Verizon. "This update provides faster display response from a sleep state, and the latest Android security updates."
The carrier started rolling out the update on Friday morning and it
may take some time before it reaches all LG G4 and LG G3 devices on the
network. Owners of these LG phones should get a notification of the
over-the-air (OTA) update but they can also manually check for the
availability of the security patch by going to Settings > About
Device > Software Updates > Check for Updates.
Following the installation of the update, the LG G3 software version
will go up to VS98547A while LG G4's version will show version VS98625A.
Verizon recommends that owners of these LG smartphones should have
full battery charge before starting the update process. The carrier also
advises that customers should be connected to a strong and stable Wi-Fi
connection to experience a smooth installation of the update.
The LG G4 and the LG G3 are not the only handsets to receive the
March Android security update from Verizon. A number of other
Android-based mobile phones including the LG V10, HT One M9, HTC One M8,
Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge and
more have also received the security patch from the carrier.
The monthly update pattern began in 2015 when some Android smartphone
makers such as HTC, LG, and Samsung announced their plans of following
Google's lead and release monthly security updates to premium devices
soon after Google rolls out the software to its hardware partners.
Device owners should be aware that hackers are always on the lookout
to find a flaw in the security of mobile devices for retrieving personal
and confidential data. Leak of such data can lead to financial damage.
Although the security update does not bring new features to the
table, it is very important to install them to keep the device fully
updated and secured from vulnerabilities and bugs. It is always good
practice to download security updates for a phone as soon as possible. Source: Techtimes
