Xiaomi Mi 5 release date likely to be January 2016 with Samsung Galaxy S7 [VIDEO] - According to a report in PC Tech Mag, Samsung’s next-gen smartphones as well as the Xiaomi Mi 5 are likely to arrive in January 2016, pitting these two devices for a stiff competition.

While the Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to incorporate the South Korean tech giant’s patented touch sensitive technology called Clear Touch, Xiaomi may also use the 3D touch technology, as some reports have claimed that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has already patented a comparable technology, which is likely to be seen first in Xiaomi Mi 5.

In fact, both the Clear Touch and Xiaomi’s reported patented 3D technology are similar to Apple’s pioneering 3D Force Touch technology which has already been incorporated in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus.

Meanwhile, Phone Arena reported that the Xiaomi Mi 5 may be equipped with the Sense ID feature from Qualcomm, which has been described as an “ultrasonic fingerprint sensing technology.”

In addition, it has been revealed that the Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is rumored to be used by the Xiaomi Mi 5, have been successful in providing high single-core tally, precisely speaking, 2300 points.

The website also noted that though it is not at par with Apple’s A9 chipset, it is still a “very high score, and bodes well for the performance of phones with the new Snapdragon inside.”

 

In terms of display, it is rumored that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch Quad HD screen rendering a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The screen will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, provided the speculations doing the rounds online come true. Source: TechnoMeda
